How to get work made from the tree

This is a chance to own something made from a very special tree and part of a project that will long be remembered. This provenance will give each piece a special value but more importantly they will be designed and made specifically for each customer producing something uniquely theirs.

We want to make sure the project is as varied and interesting as possible. We have been working hard to find makers producing a wide variety of work using different techniques. We hope to have work on every scale from jewellery to architecture so whatever idea you have we’d like to hear it.

The first step is to register your details. This will allow us to keep you up to date with progress. You should have a look at the makers featured on this site and see if any of them is suitable for your piece. If not then all is not lost, we will do our best to find someone who can make what you want so just get in touch with your requirements.

Once the maker has been found they will be provided with a list of available timber. They will come up with a design for you and apply to the project to have timber to produce your piece. Because there is a limited amount of timber available we can’t guarantee you will be given elm from the tree but we will do our very best to meet everyone‘s demands.

We will record the progress of the project in every way we can. Photographs, video recording, sketches and models will all be kept and might be included in the exhibition. We will also be displaying as much of the work as possible in the exhibition and we ask that everything is available for us to borrow from August 2008 to February 2009. If this is practically impossible then we will find another way to show the work produced.
