About This piece: Table

The table is intended for an entrance hall and so Sam wanted to make the piece as welcoming as possible: “an abstract figure with outstretched arms was an image I worked with and drew inspiration from”. His greatest challenge was to preserve the integrity of a living tree that had been reduced to slabs of wood; to achieve this he “shaped the boards into simple forms whilst trying to retain the original arrangement of the wood in the tree”.
