The idea of an exhibition of work produced from a
single tree has been explored twice before at the
Garden with stunning success. The late and great Tim
Stead transformed an ash tree into an enormous collection
of sculpture and furniture in 1993. Subsequently in
2001 an exhibition of work by 75 makers produced from
a single native oak came to the Botanic Garden in the onetree
project. The third part in the trilogy will be different
not only because the material is elm, this project
will be an exhibition of commissioned work, along
with photographic and video documentation of the processes.
The aim is to get behind the pieces to examine how
the design and making progresses, and to show how
rewarding the commissioning process can be.
We are looking for makers working in Scotland to apply
to be involved. If selected, their work will be featured
on a website and other promotional material. We already
have clients waiting to commission work and the excitement
generated by the project will bring in many more.
If you are interested in taking part please register

take the next step.
